LENS treatments are in person with close contact. Due to COVID risks appointments are limited at this time and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

What is LENS Therapy?

The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is an EEG based, direct neurofeedback system that stimulates the brain to reset itself and achieve optimal performance. Neuroscientists believe that the brain’s defenses against stressors and trauma can create a “neural gridlock.” LENS works around these blockages. Addressing the brain in its own electromagnetic language, LENS allows the brain to “reboot,” restoring optimal functioning.

Who Can LENS Therapy Help?

LENS therapy can help any one of any age struggling with neurological issues, mental health, performance, sleep, cognitive and emotional issues and aliments of any kind. Clients with traumatic brain injuries have experienced relief from symptoms quickly and permanently. Clinical studies support the effectiveness of LENS, as well as the results of over 75,000 people who have already been treated. Doctors and researchers recommend LENS for adults, teens and children suffering from:

  • ADD/ADHD

  • Addiction

  • Anxiety

  • Autism and Asperger’s

  • Depression

  • Head Injury

  • Neurological Issues

  • Panic Attacks

  • Post-Partum Depression

  • Sensory Processing Difficulties

  • OCD

  • Trauma/Post Traumatic Stress

LENS is also recommended for improving general functioning, athletic performance, clarity of thinking, energy level, motivation and focus. It can enhance your progress in therapy, meditation or spiritual practices.

The LENS Therapy Process

Unlike traditional neurofeedback, in which you actively try to regulate brainwaves, LENS therapy is passive. As you relax in sessions, your brain does the work for you. And, this form of neurofeedback therapy is quick. For a fraction of a second, a tiny and imperceptible electromagnetic signal (1/300th of that omitted by a cell phone) is delivered. This signal causes a slight fluctuation in your brainwaves that allows the brain to reorganize and better regulate itself. In just a few sessions, clients often experience better focus, increased energy and improved mood. Anxiety and depression symptoms lift. Insomniacs sleep. Children and teens with ADD or ADHD can focus. Fear diminishes. Athletes perform. Artists create.

The average number of sessions to achieve optimal brain functioning is generally between 15-20. However, many clients experience rapid relief even after just a few sessions and say that LENS is like a miracle.

Your LENS Therapy Sessions

We are all wired and heal differently, which is why I’ll assess your central nervous system in an initial evaluation. We’ll also discuss your mood, level of reactivity, energy level, cognitive clarity, organizational ability, memory and sleep patterns. In this session, we will determine your level of sensitivity to external stimulus, such as light and noise, which will help me gauge how to direct the gentle LENS signal.

Although you will receive only a few seconds of Low Energy Neurofeedback in each session, developing your treatment plan is a two-way feedback process, just like the system itself. Throughout the treatment process we’ll check in regularly to monitor progress, discuss results and alter the treatment as needed.

My LENS Therapy and Counseling Practice

I have been providing therapy to children, teens, adults and families in the Boulder/Denver area for more than three decades. I have an extensive background in the mind/body interface and have studied the science of neuroplasticity. Although passionate about staying up-to-date on current science and therapeutic techniques, I came upon LENS almost by accident.

During a time in my life when I was dealing with loss, death and depression, my good friend, Dr. David Dubin suggested I try it, train in it and offer the LENS to clients. I found a practitioner in South Denver and experienced extraordinary results. My depression lifted and has stayed lifted. The significant change in my own brain physiology and improved overall well-being inspired me to train in the LENS method and offer this remarkable treatment to my clients. I invested in the system and was trained by Len Ochs, PhD, the founder of this system, at the Ochs Lab in California. I later received further training, supervision and treatment from Dr. David Dubin, MD.

I began treating clients with LENS in 2012 and have since witnessed rapid, meaningful and often dramatic results. And, the changes are enduring. These results echo recent and ongoing research in neuroplasticity and demonstrate new possibilities for growth and change in the brain. As a LENS neurofeedback provider, I am excited by this gentle, highly effective form of treatment and pleased to be able to offer it as an option in my heart-centered, holistic and supportive practice.
